Last August Jenn decided to turn what was meant to be a summer holiday in Ireland into an opportunity for professional growth.
This is what she has to share today!
”Today, over a year after submitting my initial application for degree recognition, I've officially become a registered physiotherapist and can start working as a clinician in this amazing country.
As much as I've missed clinical work, I've been very fortunate to have the opportunities that I have -
• Speaking at two major conferences
• Learning from & working with my mom, Sharon Sutherland (who would have thought?!)
• Presenting to hundreds of healthcare professionals in seven European countries
• Co-authoring two journal publications in Disability & Rehabilitation with brilliant academics from the University of Limerick
• Helping children with Spina Bifida maximize their independence as a wheelchair skills coach
• Preparing online modules for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and service users
• Starting women's strength training classes at a local gym
None of that would have been possible as a new graduate had I taken the path I initially set out for. I'm incredibly thankful for those opportunities and grateful to each person who has helped make them possible, and I cannot wait to see where this next year takes me as a physio.”
