Anatomy & Biomechanics Related to Sitting
with Sharon and Jenn
March 10th from 9:30am - 4:30pm in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo
Join Sharon and Jenn for a day dedicated to exploring the human body. Many of us have learned where the hamstrings are, or what dorsiflexion is, but never learned what and why exactly they impact seating. When working with service users who function from a seated position, clinicians can greatly benefit from developing a deeper understanding of anatomy and biomechanics related to the populations they actually work with.
A wheelchair is essentially an extension of the human body, and this workshop will help participants understand and experience the impact of anatomical limitations, gravity, and any other external sources in both sitting and lying, and how to use that knowledge in the clinical decision making phase to justify an appropriate seating and/or lying system designed based on the hands-on assessment.
This will be a very interactive, explorative, and fun day to practice palpation and handling skills that can be immediately and directly implemented in your regular work practice to improve the quality of service you offer.

The Hands-On Assessment
with Sharon & Jenn
April X from 9:30am to 4:30pm in Sligo
The Hands-On Assessment is at the core of what I believe is my duty as a clinician to offer the service users we work with. Without the hands-on assessment, it doesn’t matter how many questions we ask or what kind of products we try - there is no way to know what the body needs unless we take a thorough and relevant look at the body. Join Sharon and Jenn for a day of practical hands-on training and practice in the morning followed by a service user joining us for a group-led assessment in the afternoon.
